Scope and Content Detail of an armorial shield from the tomb of Sir Adam Forrester, Corstorphine Old Parish Church, Corstorphine, Edinburgh Corstorphine Old Parish Church dates from the early 15th century, and became a collegiate church in 1429, founded by Sir John Forrester. It stands, surrounded by its churchyard, in Kirk Loan, at the historic centre of the old village of Corstorphine. This armorial shield, the middle of three panels from the tomb of Sir Adam Forrester who died in 1405, bears the coat of arms of the Forrester family, three hunting horns in argent and sable. Sir Adam Forrester, head of the distinguished Forrester family, was an ambassador for Scotland, and held the offices of Lord Chamberlain and Keeper of the Great Seal. He built Corstorphine Castle in c.1374, which remained the family seat until 1713. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
