Scope and Content Detail of drawing-room door in Ballure House, Argyll and Bute Ballure is thought to have been built as a dower house, which is a house for a widow, by a MacDonald of Largie. The villa, dating to the early 19th century, originally consisted of an L-plan main block and a lower service wing to the north. This wooden drawing-room door is panelled, the panels decorated with mouldings. The door is framed by a moulded architrave with circular ornaments in the top corners. The interior of the house is divided into three sections. The stair is in the central division with the main rooms in the divisions on either side. The drawing room is on the ground floor on one side of the stair with the dining room on the other. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
