Scope and Content View of Saddell House from south, Argyll and Bute Saddell House was erected by Colonel Donald Campbell of Glensaddell in 1774. It was probably built when Saddell Castle was abandoned as the principal family residence, and used to accommodate servants and estate workers. The house is a two-storeyed mansion with an attic and a sunken basement. It is oblong on plan with a semi-octagonal bay which projects from the centre of the south-east front. The masonry is harled with quoins, or dressed stones, at the corners. The windows are symmetrically positioned with plain surrounds, the dormer windows having pediments. Below the hipped and slated roof there is a bracketed eaves cornice with a plain stone band below it. There is another stone band at ground floor level. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
