Scope and Content Drawings showing the south and east elevations of Liberton Tower, Liberton Drive, Liberton, Edinburgh Liberton Tower, a late medieval tower-house, stands perched on a ridge to the west of Liberton. The tower, built in the 15th century by the Dalmahoy family, has a splendid uninterrupted view north over the city of Edinburgh to the Firth of Forth. The four-storeyed tower has two entrances, one at ground level giving access to the basement used for storage, and the other in the east wall at first-floor level. The main entrance to the tower was through the first-floor door in the east wall, reached by an outside stair and a drawbridge that could be raised if the tower was under attack.
