Scope and Content Late 19th-century drawing of Christ Church Episcopal, 'Holy Corner', Morningside, Edinburgh Christ Church Episcopal, one of the four churches at 'Holy Corner', stands on the north corner of Colinton Road and Bruntsfield Place. It was designed in 1875-8 in a French Gothic style by Hippolyte Jean Blanc, who was a member of the congregation. The church has a five-sided chancel at its east end facing the road, with flying buttresses above and 'cinquefoil' (pattern of five circles) windows below. The tower, with its tall belfry and 43m pinnacled spire, stands in the angle of the north transept. When the church opened in 1876, the building was only partly finished. The chancel and spire were completed later at a cost of £3,400, donated by Miss Falconar, the surviving daughter of Alexander Falconar of Falcon Hall, in memory of her father.
