Scope and Content Statue of Lord Nelson from the former Falcon Hall, Morningside Road, Morningside, Edinburgh Falcon Hall, designed c.1814 by Thomas Hamilton for Alexander Falconar, stood on the east side of Morningside Road. It incorporated an earlier house, Morningside Lodge, built in 1780 for Lord Provost William Coulter. The Hall was demolished in 1909. This 2.1m high statue of Lord Nelson, by the sculptor Robert Forrest of Lanark, once stood to the left side of the great 12-columned entrance portico of the Hall. The statue was bought by the owners of Lennel House, Coldstream, in 1905. This statue, and its 'companion', the Duke of Wellington, which formerly stood on the right side of the portico, adorned the Italian garden at Lennel House from 1905 until 1987, when both statues were sold at auction to a London antique dealer.
