Scope and Content Bella Vista, No 64 The Causeway, Duddingston, Edinburgh The Causeway, Duddingston's main street, is a narrow lane which runs from the gates of the church the length of the village. It has a number of 18th- and 19th-century houses, as well as the village's only public house, the 18th-century Sheep Heid Inn. Bella Vista stands in a large wooded garden on the hill on the north side of The Causeway, overlooking Duddingston Loch to the west. The house was built in 1801, but enlarged in 1875 with bay windows and a slated dome over the front door. The garden of this unusual house contains some interesting late Victorian curiosities, including a stone-built billiards house on the east side, and a folly, an octagonal battlemented pavilion, on the west.
