Scope and Content General view of Glenshellish House and farm from the east, Argyll and Bute In 1826 the estate of Glenshellish was acquired by David northapier, a pioneer of steam navigation on the Clyde, who established a steamer service on Loch Eck. The house was probably built at this time and, from 1850 onwards, was occupied by farming tenants. Glenshellish House is two-storeyed with curving one-storeyed wings. The wings extend backwards to form a U-shaped cobbled courtyard behind the house. There are modern farm buildings, to the right. The farm buildings are now used as a dairy farm, with the flanking wings used mainly as cattle sheds. These originally contained stables, a coach-shed, a dairy and other domestic offices.
