Inverneill House. General view from East.

SC 558860

Description Inverneill House. General view from East.

Catalogue Number SC 558860

Category On-line Digital Images

Copy of A 45670

Scope and Content View of east gable of Inverneill House, Argyll and Bute The original Inverneill House was probably built between 1801 and 1805 for Sir James Campbell. Most of it was demolished in 1955. The existing three-storeyed tower was probably built in the late 19th century as the north wing of the original house. This crenellated three-storeyed gabled block has crowstepped east and west gables. The crenellated square bay window, on the ground floor of the symmetrical east façade, looks onto the garden. The corners of the house are curved outwards at the base and parapet level, where they return to being square. The original house was to the left, where there is now a modern single-storeyed porch.
