Scope and Content View of Kilmun House from the south-west, Argyll and Bute Kilmun House is probably of 18th-century date with late 19th-century alterations and an extension. Sited at the foot of a wooded hillside, near the north-east shore of the Holy Loch, it belonged originally to the Campbells of Kilmun. To the right is the original part of the house, with its six bays and the entrance doorway. The estate was sold in 1874, and it is thought the later part of the house, to the left, was erected after this date. It is built in the Baronial style. In the extension there is a canted bay window on the ground floor, corbelled and crowstepped above. The interior of the house was remodelled in the second half of the 19th century.
