Scope and Content Chemical works, Milliken Park, Renfrewshire This works was built as an engineering works, but was adapted as a sheep-dip works by Robert Young and Co Ltd of the Cranstonhill Chemical Works, Glasgow. By 1979 it had closed, but was still largely intact. This view shows a derris sifter, a device for separating derris-root flour from over-sized material. Derris is a powerful natural insecticide, which was a component, in finely divided form, of sheep dip. This works has since been demolished and the site developed for housing.
