Scope and Content Boatbuilding yard, Cockenzie Harbour, East Lothian This small wooden boat-building and repairing yard is sited on the south, unquayed, side of Cockenzie Harbour, which was rebuilt into its present form in 1835. The yard was set up to build wooden fishing vessels and yachts. This view shows a small wooden inshore fishing vessel being repaired and painted. It has been drawn up on the railed slip which was also used for building. The buildings of the yard, out of sight to the right were simple sheds. By 1979 the yard was no longer building fishing vessels, but still repaired fishing boats and yachts. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
