Scope and Content Minor light, Dunollie, Oban, Argyll This small unmanned lighthouse was provided by the Northern Lighthouse Board for the guidance of vessels using Oban harbour at a time when it was intensively used both by commercial craft and visiting yachtsmen. This view shows the lighthouse from the south east. The rustic masonry of the short tower is unique in Scotland, and the rectangular panes of the lantern are unusual for Board lights. Since 1979 this light has been fitted with 'collimating screens' which make its two-coloured beams more clearly distinguishable to mariners. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
