Scope and Content Ferryman's hut, Ardentinny, Argyll This small building appears to have been used as a bothy for ferrymen operating an open-boat ferry across Loch Long from Ardentinny to Coulport, and probably also as a waiting room for passengers awaiting ferry passage to a steamer. This view shows the building from the sea side, showing a seaward-facing window at the upper level, and a basement room, probably a store. The ferry to Coulport may have ended with the coming of steamboats Ardentinny never had a pier, and passengers had to use a ferry to and from calling steamers. This building may well have been built for their convenience. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
