Scope and Content The East of Scotland Cycling Club at Cramond Village, Edinburgh Cramond, a picturesque village at the mouth of the River Almond, lies on the shores of the Firth of Forth. It developed as an 18th-century industrial village, but its origins date further back to the 2nd century AD when it was the site of a Roman fort. This group of cyclists from the East of Scotland Cycling Club and their friends are pictured sitting on the rocky foreshore at Cramond on one of their annual outings. Cramond is an attractive spot for visitors, and popular with artists and yachtsmen. The harbour offers moorings for boats and sailing events hosted by the Cramond Boat Club, and there are pleasant walks along the promenade and beside the river. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
