Scope and Content View from south of Potterhill, Perth This slab block was approved for development in 1961. It was built of Wimpey 'No-Fines' concrete (made without fine sand or gravel) by Wimpey Construction. The block is eight-storeyed, and contains 48 flats in total. This shows the wall-like slab block with its vertical patterns of light and shade created by the glass-fronted balconies, pale walls with their square windows, and the central area with its pierced bricks. These ventilate the shared staircase and lifts. This block occupies a slightly sloping site, and the design uses this feature to provide an open utility area (left). A car park and landscaped grounds are provided for residents, who also use their balconies for growing plants and for garden chairs. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
