Scope and Content Auchroisk Distillery, Mulben, Banffshire This distillery was built as a showpiece by International Distillers and Vintners, and has associated with it a blending hall for IDV whiskies. It has eight large stills in one very wide stillhouse. This is a general view of the distillery, with the stillhouse on the left, to the left of the boiler-house chimney; the stills are steam-heated. The small conical-roofed building is the yeast house, a deliberate flourish for an otherwise plain complex. This was one of a handful of malt whisky distilleries built in the mid 1970s, and like the others it made something of an architectural statement, though firmly breaking with tradition. This distillery is now part of United Distillers and Vintners. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
