Scope and Content Mill of Mundurno, near Aberdeen This is a well-preserved water-powered corn mill, on a T-plan, driven by a pitchback waterwheel 0.76 by 4.16m, apparently enlarged from a wheel 3.35m in diameter. The mill has a large swivelling kiln ventilator, with a vane in the shape of a pig. This view shows the waterwheel from the south east. In a pitchback wheel the buckets face the opposite way from those on an overshot wheel. The way in which the spokes have been lengthened to increase the diameter can also be seen. The mill was still in existence in 1998, but a large modern pub-restaurant has been built immediately to the west. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
