Scope and Content Quayside Mills, Quayside Street, Leith, Edinburgh These mills were adapted from the manse of Leith Parish Church probably in the early 19th century. They were extended in the later 19th century, and substantially remodelled c1970. They were situated on what was part of Leith Harbour. This view shows the mills from the north east. Note the kiln to the right of the three-storey brick block. The tower to the rear was part of the old manse. The oldest part of the mills is to the left; note the door giving access to shipping in the harbour These mills continued to produce animal feeding-stuffs until c1990. After a period of disuse part of the complex, including the remains of the old manse, was converted into flats in the late 1990s. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
