Scope and Content Cast-iron bridge, Linn Park, Glasgow This bridge was built to carry a carriage drive to Linn House over the river White Cart. It was retained when the estate was converted into a public park. This view shows the bridge from the south west. It has four identical cast iron ribs, with a semi-elliptical profile to the lower edge, and a plain wrought-iron railing. The bases of the masonry abutments were extended in the 1960s to counter scour. This is a unique bridge, with the circular openings along the bottom of each rib giving a lightness of appearance entirely appropriate to its sylvan setting. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
