Scope and Content Bridge over river Kelvin, Garscube Estate, Lanarkshire This is an estate bridge connecting the site of the former Garscube House (demolished) with drives leading to Maryhill Road. The bridge has four flat Tudor-arched spans, and a level carriageway. This view shows the bridge from the south west. The unusual flatness of the arches is clear. Note the richly-moulded arch stones. The reason for the small arch to the right is not clear. The architectural treatment of this bridge reflects the popularity of the Tudor and Jacobean styles for the design of country houses and associated buildings until the Scottish Baronial came into vogue in the late1840s.
