Scope and Content Road bridge, Ballinluig, Perthshire This was a light steel truss bridge over the river Tummel, built by Somervail and Co, Dalmuir to designs by Allan D Stewart. It replaced a ferry, and was paid for by public subscription. It could only accommodate one line of traffic. This view shows the main truss from the west. Note the bowed profile and the light steel sections. In 1977 this bridge was used only as a footbridge. After the closure of the Aberfeldy branch railway, the adjacent railway bridge was adapted to carry road traffic, and this became a footbridge. A new bridge was constructed in the 1980s and both the old bridges were demolished. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
