Scope and Content School for Children, New Lanark, Lanarkshire This building was constructed to provide additional classroom accommodation for Robert Owen's school. part of which was conducted in his New Institution for the Formation of Character. It also housed a 'public kitchen'. This view shows the building from the north. It was of two storeys and basement, with two schoolrooms on each of the two upper floors; the public kitchen was in the basement. Latterly the village water supply was filtered in the basement. In 1977 the school was still in the hands of Metal Extraction Ltd, and falling into decay. Later acquired by Clydesdale District Council, it was repaired by the then Ministry of Public Buildings and Works. It is now being adapted as an education centre.
