Scope and Content Fort Matilda Station, Lanarkshire This two-platform through station was built by the Caledonian Railway as part of its Gourock extension. The main building is on the Glasgow-bound platform. It was designed by James Miller, an architect who did much railway work. This view shows the main building from the south west. It is in the then-fashionable English Arts and Crafts style, with the steeply-pitched roof overhanging to provide a platform awning. This station has now had staffing withdrawn, but the building, which is Listed, has survived, though it is not currently disused. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
