Scope and Content Former Luncarty Station, Perthshire This station was built by the Scottish Midland Junction Railway. It was a two-platform through station, but closed many years ago, and lost both platform edges and the buildings on the south-bound platform. This view shows the surviving buildings, on the north-bound platform The two-storey and basement structure housed both the station offices and the agent's house. The shed in the distance was probably for goods. The low-pitched Italianate roofs are typical of the 1840s, but the layout is unusual, the nearest parallel being Markinch Station, almost an exact contemporary. There are three reused datestones on the rear of the house, two 17th century. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
