Scope and Content Cross-slab known as Sueno's Stone at Forres, Morayshire Sueno's Stone is a 7.6 ton slab of stone, probably from the coast at Covesea some 15 km away. One story is that the stone commemorate a major battle against Norse settlers from Orkney. Found buried in 1726, the stone is now covered by a glass case. This face is divided into panels showing a battle. A leader and his army arrives and champions fight in single combat. A broch is besieged and an army flees. The framed head below the canopy in the third panel may, perhaps, be the defeated leader. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
