Scope and Content Warehouses, Peterhead Harbour, Aberdeenshire The harbour at Peterhead was served by a number of warehouses, mainly round the south harbour. This block of two is set back from the quay wall of the west side of the south harbour, and appears to date from the mid 19th century. This view shows the range from the north east. The nearer one is the largest in the port. and there is a smaller one beyond. Both were probably built for the grain trade through the port, which has a large hinterland. This was probably the largest warehouse of its kind north of Aberdeen, its scale reflecting the importance and prestige of this important port, which is now the most important fishing port in Europe.
