Scope and Content Port Errol Harbour, Aberdeenshire This harbour is formed by two outer L-plan piers, with a third dividing the enclosed water into an outer stilling basin and an inner basin. It was extended in the late 19th century during the herring boom of that period. This view shows the inner basin from the south. The car is parked on the pier which separates this basin from the outer one The two nearer boats are salmon-fishing cobles, and the third is a small decked yawl. By 1976 the harbour was used mainly as a salmon-fishing station. It has since developed as a centre for recreational boating. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
