Scope and Content Gleneagles Station, Perthshire This was a three-platform station rebuilt in 1919 from an earlier station known as Crieff Junction, to serve the Caledonian Railway's new luxury Gleneagles Hotel and golf-course development. It was also a war memorial to the company's dead. This view shows the station from the south, with the foot bridges linking the platforms to each other and to the entrance and booking office out of sight to the left. The Crieff branch ran off to the left behind the flower beds. As well as serving the hotel this was also the junction for Crieff, a popular inland resort and dormitory town for well-to-do people. The branch closed in 1964, and visitors to the hotel now arrive by road. The station buildings are now decaying. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
