Scope and Content Forteviot Bridge This is a five-span rubble-built road bridge, with four main segmental spans and a semi-elliptical flood-relief span on the south. There are triangular cutwaters, carried up to form pedestrian refuges. The bridge spans the river Earn. This view shows the bridge from the south east. The flood-relief arch is out of sight to the left. Note that the bridge has an almost level deck. This is one of a number of large road bridges built in central Perthshire in the second half of the 18th century, when road improvement was taking place hand in hand with agricultural change.
