Scope and Content The Glenlivet Distillery, Banffshire This is a Highland Malt Whisky distillery founded on this site by G and JG Smith to replace two earlier distilleries, and subsequently rebuilt and extended on a number of occasions. This view shows the distillery from the approach road, with the late-Victorian offices in the middle, with the stillhouse etc behind. To the right are late 19th century bonded warehouses, and to the left a mid 20th century byproduct recovery plant. The Glenlivet has been since the 19th century a noted single malt whisky. It now has a visitor centre. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
