Scope and Content View from east of entrance hall, Lismohr, No 11 Easter Belmont Road, Edinburgh Lismohr is a single and two-storeyed villa built in c.1935 in the International Modern style. It was designed by architects Kininmouth & Spence for Dr John King, and extended by Morris & Steedman. It is built of rendered brick with a flat roof. This photograph shows the entrance hall with its wooden floor, wide windows, and wooden door case. A horizontally-panelled glazed door leads into the hall, the main feature of which is the part-open stair which leads to the upper levels of the villa. The main feature of 1930s style is the contrast of curves and horizontal or vertical lines, both inside and outside a building. In this hallway, the angle of the stair contrasts against the horizontal windows in the well-lit, double-height stair well. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
