Scope and Content Stoer Head Lighthouse This lighthouse was designed by D and T Stevenson for the Northern Lighthouse Board. It has a short circular-section tower. Linked at two levels with a two-storey flat-roofed block of keepers' cottages. This view shows the lighthouse from the approach road. The compact arrangement is evident, the whole establishment being contained within a small walled compound. By 1976 the light had been automated, and the optical apparatus removed. Following the automation of the light the keepers' houses were converted into holiday accommodation for Northern Lighthouse Board staff. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
