Scope and Content Warehouse, Ullapool Ullapool was established as a fishing station by the British Fishery Society in 1788. This warehouse was probably built by them as a granary. It is opposite the original pier. This view shows the building from the south west. It has been converted into a bar and shops. The external stair and the chimney stack suggest that it was built for the storage of grain rather than as a curing house. Ullapool has since 1973 been the mainland end of the vehicular ferry service to Stornoway and is now a popular tourist destination. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
