Scope and Content Glenmorangie Distillery, Tain, Ross and Cromarty, Highland This is a Highland Malt Whisky distillery, founded in 1843, when it was converted from the Morangie brewery. It was rebuilt c1888 by the Glenmorangie Distillery Co Ltd. This view shows the distillery maltings as rebuilt c1888, except for the kiln ventilators, which have been modified in the 20th century. The painting of distillery names on the roofs of maltings was common as an advertisement. This distillery was rebuilt internally in 1979, when this maltings became a mash house and tun room. The slate roof was replaced with a profiled steel one, with corrugated acrylic roof-lights. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
