Scope and Content Fishing station, Droman, Highland This fishing station was probably established in the early 19th century when the crofting township of Droman was founded. It is a beach fishing station, improved in the late 19th or early 20th century by constructing a ramped concrete pier. This view shows the concrete pier at the head of a natural inlet. Note the beach boats; two winches were provided to pull them, and other craft, up the beach. The crofting townships in this part of the north-west were laid out in the expectation that their inhabitants would engage in fishing as well as agriculture. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
