Scope and Content Loch Bervie Harbour, Kinlochbervie, Highland Kinlochbervie has two port installations, one on Loch Clash, consisting of a timber-piled steamer pier and a concrete quay, probably early 20th century, and the other a mid 20th century piled concrete pier for fishing boats on Loch Inchard. This view shows part of the Loch Inchard pier, which is the furthest north west fish-landing port in mainland Britain. The asbestos-clad tower is an ice factory, and the boats are mainly seine net boats typical of the Scottish fleet in the 1970s. The other facilities here include a fish market, and a harbour-master's office. This harbour was created whem refrigerated road transport freed fish merchants from the need to use rail-connected landing ports. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
