Description Badachro, Storehouse General View

Date 26/5/1976

Collection Papers of Professor John R Hume, economic and industrial historian, Glasgow, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 496184

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content Ramped pier and store, Badachroe, highland council area This complex consists of a ramped pier built of massive drystone rubble, with a paved surface which is continued over an area in front of a two-storey store. This view shows the store, with paved area, leading to the pier, on the right. Note that the store has a door facing on to the pier, and a cart entry in the side. The purpose of this complex is not immediately obvious. It could have been built as a small fish-curing station, or perhaps as a trading station. It is also possible that it had more than one purpose. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
