Collection Papers of Professor John R Hume, economic and industrial historian, Glasgow, Scotland

Scope and Content Ramped pier and store, Badachroe, Highland This complex consists of a ramped pier built of massive drystone rubble, with a paved surface which is continued over an area in front of a two-storey store. This view shows the pier, with the gable of the store on the right. The small inshore fishing boat gives an idea of the scale of the facility. The purpose of this complex is not immediately obvious. It could have been built as a small fish-curing station, or perhaps as a trading station. It is also possible that it had more than one purpose. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
