Scope and Content Pier, Inveralligan This pier is in two sections, a mass concrete one at the shore end, ending in a flight of steps leading down to a low curving rubble one. This view shows the pier from the north east. The concrete section is fitted with a series of mooring rings, which suggests that it was built to accommodate fishing boats, though the berths are very near the high-water mark. The logic of this design is hard to disentangle. It seems likely that the concrete structure was originally intended to project further into the sea, and that the lower section was added by local craftsmen to meet a specific need.
