Scope and Content Former tollhouse near Killin, Stirling council area This two-storey three-bay building with central full-height bow appears to have been adapted from a conventional single-storey tollhouse, probably in the late 19th or early 20th century. This view shows the building from the south The joint between the original masonry and the new first floor can be seen on either side of the bay. Tolls on Scottish roads were abolished in the 1880s when the county councils assumed responsibility for road maintenance, and the extension of this building probably followed soon after.
