Description Connel Station General View

Date 23/5/1976

Collection Papers of Professor John R Hume, economic and industrial historian, Glasgow, Scotland

Catalogue Number SC 495504

Category On-line Digital Images

Scope and Content Former Connel Station, Argyll and Bute This station was opened in 1880 by the Callander and Oban Railway. It was a two-platform through station on a passing loop. After the opening of the Ballachulish branch in 1903 it became the junction station for that line. This view shows the station building from the road side. It was situated on the Glasgow-bound platform, and was very similar in design to Taynuilt Station. The building was in poor condition in 1976, and was demolished soon after.
