Scope and Content Former Creagan Viaduct, Argyll and Bute This viaduct across Loch Creagan was opened in 1903 by the Caledonian Railway as part of a branch from the Callander and Oban Railway at Connel. Apart from Connel Bridge it was the largest structure on the line. This view shows the bridge from the south east, with its two main N-truss spans and its two arched road spans, with castellated masonry on the side-spans and central pier. The railway closed in 1966. After lying disused since then a new road bridge was built on the same line in the late 1990s. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
