Scope and Content Towiemore Distillery, Banffshire This is a Scotch Malt Whisky distillery built by Peter Dawson, and acquired in 1898 by the Towiemore-Glenlivet Distillery Co Ltd. This company went into liquidation 1n 1930, and it was acquired by Scottish Malt Distillers Ltd and closed. This view shows the distillery from the west, with the malt barns and kilns prominent. The warehouses were out of sight on the left. Note that the malt barns were built in two sections, the older, on the left, being stone-built. The maltings here were used until 1968, when Scottish Malt Distillers opened a central maltings at Burghead. The warehouses were used until the 1990s. The buildings have now been demolished.
