Scope and Content Mill of Auchindoun, Banffshire This was a water-powered corn mill on an L-plan, driven by a low-breast paddle wheel 0.76 by 3.45m with the water led to it from a high level down a concrete trough. This view shows the mill from the kiln end. Note the large wooden kiln ventilator with swivelling head. The wheel was at the far end of the milling range to the rear. The type of wheel used and the design of the kiln ventilator are characteristic of Aberdeenshire practice. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
