Scope and Content Pier, Lagg, Jura, Argyll This curved pier and ramped ferry pier were built as part of the transport improvements undertaken by the Commissioners for Highland Roads and Bridges in the early 19th century. They were designed by David Wilson and James Hollinsworth. This view shows the causeway and ramped ferry pier which form the outer part of the harbour, The drystone rubble construction is similar to that of the curved pier. These works were designed as the Jura end of a ferry service to Keills, on the mainland. They were constructed under the general supervision of Thomas Telford. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
