Scope and Content Quendale Mill, Quendale Farm, Shetland This is one of a handful of conventional vertical water mills in Shetland. It is embodied in a farm steading, and is a T-plan structure, with a kiln at one end and a granary at the other. The waterwheel is overshot, 0.91 by 4.27m. This view shows the mill from the north east, with the waterwheel on the right. The wing on the left is the granary, with two cart bays below. The kiln is in a matching wing at the other end of the building. The mill was apparently in workable condition in 1976, and is now open to visitors. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
