Scope and Content Gravestone of William Drover (west face), Lasswade Churchyard, Midlothian This gravestone commemorates the family of William Drover, a blacksmith, who died in 1775. A winged cherub symbolises the heavenward ascent of William's soul. On either side of the curved pediment are skulls carved in relief, emblem of death. The graveyards of Scotland are an important part of the cultural heritage of the country and can provide fascinating information for people interested in family or local history, as well as vernacular art.
