Scope and Content Fishing station, Sand Lodge, Shetland This was a larger than usual island fishing station, with several winches, both iron and timber-framed, a ramped jetty and a corrugated iron boat shed.. Sand Lodge is one of Shetland's larger country houses. This is a general view of the station from the north, with Sand Lodge in the background. Note the corrugated-iron boat shed and the variety of small Shetland double-enders. The boats used here were mainly small double-enders of characteristic Shetland design. Sand Lodge is also the point of embarkation for the island of Mousa with its celebrated broch. Source: RCAHMS contribution to SCRAN.
