Scope and Content Sabiston Mill, Orkney This is a two-storey water-powered corn mill, rubble-built, on a rectangular plan, driven by a low breast paddle wheel, 0.89 by 3.35m. It is rubble-built with a replacement corrugated-asbestos roof. This view shows the mill from the north west, with the kiln at the far end. The mill is unusual for Orkney in having a low-breast paddle wheel of this type, and in having a swivelling kiln ventilator. By 1976 the mill was disused, but apparently intact.
